    Why would I use an E-Bike over a regular bike?

    You don’t sweat as much. You get the assist so you can work as hard as you want and sweat less.
    It’s Actually Safer. It might seem counter-intuitive since an E-Bike can get up to speed much faster than a regular bike, but you also get an easier start from stopped positions, allowing you to get through an intersection steadier and quicker. When climbing steep hills with cars nearby you can focus more of your energy on controlling the bike instead of propelling the bike.
    It’s way easier on your joints. Using the electric assist eases the pressure on your knees and hips. Staying together. You may have a riding partner that rides at a different pace than you. An E-Bike can even out the pace for both of you. Park Your Car. An E-Bike is convenient and the ease of use and speed of an electric bike make it an alternative to an automobile more often than a regular bike. It’s Really FUN!!! Try one and you will be hooked with a big smile on your face.

    Do I need a license?
    Not if you are over 16 years of age. Under 16 years of age, please refer to your provincial regulations.

    How far can an E-Bike go?
    Your e-bike range will vary depending on many different conditions, from your battery size to weather. Some of the most common factors include battery size and age, rider’s weight, average biking speed, level of assistance used, hilly terrain, wind, tire pressure, and outside temperature.

    How many charges can I get out of a battery?
    Most E-Bike batteries sold in North America are lithium-ion, which will provide a minimum of 600 full charge cycles at which point the battery will hold about 80% of its original capacity. If you recharge the battery when it is only 50% depleted, that counts as only 1/2 of one charge cycle.

    How much electricity does it take to charge a battery?
    Depending on the capacity of the battery, it will usually take 500-800 watt hours (0.4 - 0.8 kilowatt hours) to charge the battery. Assuming a rate of $0.10/kWh, it will cost you 5-8 cents for a charge that will last 100+ KMs.

    How long does it take to charge the battery?
    Monride e-bikes batteries take up to 4.5 hours to charge from low. All batteries can be easily removed and transported, so you can take the battery to your office or home to charge, while leaving an e-bike in the garage.

    What if my battery turns off or it dies? / Can I use it as a regular bike?
    If your battery dies or you turn off your assistance completely, you will be able to pedal and ride your e-bike just like a regular bicycle.

    What care/maintenance does the battery need?
    Batteries are built to last and can be recharged 600 or more times. Even if you’re an avid cyclist, you’d still get several years out of your battery until you have to replace it. Make sure to follow e-bike’s manual instructions for proper attachment and removal of the battery. They can be an expensive replacement if damaged.

    If you plan to store your battery for a longer period of time, for example the winter period, it’s better to keep your battery 30-60% charged. Lower temperatures can also drain your battery, so it’s preferable to store it inside.
